Hello trainers, today we had a lot of new informations about Pokémon Sun & Moon!

As you can see in the new trailer, Alola will introduce us to a new concept in the Pokémon world, which is called "Microclimates" and allows the Pokémon to change their forms!

With this new feature, we'll have the return of some well-known faces, such like Exeggutor, Vulpix/Ninetales and Sandshrew/Sandslash!

Exeggutor changed its type to Grass/Dragon, while Vulpix/Ninetales and Sandshrew/Sandslash turned into Ice and received a new ability: Snow Cloak

And that was not all, today we also were introduced to some new Pokémon!

Gumshoos, the evolution of Yungoos.

Oricorio is a curious Pokémon that can change its form by sipping the nectar of some flowers, and it also can change its types! (Fire/Flying, Electric/Flying, Psychic/Flying and Ghost/Flying). Its ability is "Dancer" which copies dance moves.

Lurantis is the Totem Pokémon of Lush Jungle, the site of an Akala Island trial.

Minior is the new Rock/Flying Pokémon, its ability is Shields Down, with this ability, Minior will have excellent defensive capabilities as long as its shell is intact, it will also be protected from status conditions. But when its HP drops below half, its shell will break, and it will change to a form better suited to attacking.

And finally we have Mudbray, the Mudsdale's pre-evolution, this ground-type Pokémon has Own Tempo and Stamina.

Do you ever dreamed about flying in the back of your Charizard? Or cross the sea in the back of your Sharpedo? Now you can, with SM's new feature, the PokéRide!

To finish this post we have another new feature, the "Z-Moves"! The Z-Moves are utilising the special bracelet that trainers have. The Z-Ring fits on a Trainer’s arm, and Z-Crystals are set into it. If a Pokémon holds the same variety of Z-Crystal, the two will be able to resonate with one another. Crystals that correspond to each Pokémon type have been found in the Alola region. There are two conditions for performing Z-Moves: a Pokémon must learn a move of the same type as a Z-Crystal, and it must be holding the corresponding Z-Crystal. When you see these moves in action in the game, each overwhelmingly powerful move will be on full display, filling the entire screen! A special bit of merchandise for a Z-Ring will also be released which will light up in tandem with use on Sun & Moon.

Thank you for the news!
So now they have the perfect reason to create a Pikachu with different types XD
But I'm happy that you can ride a lot of different Pokemon! I hope that the ones that can fly will do it without the HM...

..that Exeggutor...
I totally agree...

I'd like to see what you guys think about the new Alolan Pokémon.

Personally, even that I think that makes sense that the Pokémon adapt themselves to the region where they live, I disliked it. I mean, Pokémon are magical creatures, I think Vulpix/Ninetales, for example, could deal with the snow, as fire types, and I think this is just another way to make the Pokémon more complex. But, well, maybe they are trying - again - to get the attention of the older Pokémon fans, by bringing back the Kanto's Pokémon with new "features".

I think the introduction of Alolan form Pokémon offers us a deeper understanding of what Pokémon really are. (What I say from here may sound odd or terribly unorganized but please bear with me)

It's often thought that a Pokémon's type is core to a Pokémon's life. We can see that popular idea from comics or memes where Golem dies by being sprayed with water, or Quagsire being seriously injured by rolling in a patch of grass. The funny thing is, this wouldn't make any sense, even in the Pokémon world. Water and grass are too common in nature to be life-threatening to actual living beings.

Instead, I like to think of Pokémon type weaknesses to be like when cats don't like getting wet, so they instinctively avoid it. We could say that maintaining dry skin feels more comfortable to Golem, or Quagsire happen to enjoy playing in mud rather than grass.

Now this connects to Alolan forms because they are Pokémon that completely changed their types. The well known fire type vulpix and ground type sandshrew were suddenly revealed to have ice type variants. When we always thought they were living manifestations of fire and earth, they weren't. The types changed, but something stayed the same. Their categories. Though an ice type, vulpix is still vulpix, a fox Pokémon, while sandshrew is still sandshrew, a mouse Pokémon. This, I think, shows that Pokémon are more like animals in the real world than we thought them to be. In this perspective, Pokémon categories seem much more significant. We've been ignoring them for so long, but maybe categories will help us speculate, imagine or predict how Pokémon behavior would be in real life more than types ever did.

This idea is epic but I hate how Pokemon is sometimes inconsistent with new ideas for eg No dream world in gen 6 and we still don't know if mega evolution still exists

I know, it seems like Game Freak is constantly giving us different things, when the fans want better things.

There's a suggestion about how Mega Evolution will be kept in Sun and Moon though.
Since Z-moves are the big thing in 7 now, the game will probably not give you a keystone until you defeat the "league".
But once you do, you'll get a keystone that is put in one of the slots in your Z-bracelet.
After that, you can choose to either mega evolve your Pokemon in battle or use a Z-move.

About that... I think that they want to power up old Pokémon since they aren't that usable in the competitive... maybe until the 5th generation some of them were usable (Nintetales + Drought) but not many of them. I think that with the 6th generation and the mega Evolution they tryed to power up them but the Mega have a limit: they can give a Mega only to fully evolved Pokémon so Pokémon like Sandslash were still useless. Maybe with this move they will be competitive again :yeahyeah:

I think that the "a Pokémon's type is core to a Pokémon's life" is more releated to the Charmander line since the Pokédex in FireRed tells us this
From the time it is born, a flame burns at the tip of its tail. Its life would end if the flame were to go out.
but I don't think that this apply for every kind of Pokémon. Like you said, weakness is more like that because in the games Pokémon can learn moves from other types :yesyes: Rhydon can learn Surf but it's a Ground/Rock type... in the first season a Sandshrew try to leran how to be strong against water... so I think that it's possibile for them to change type based on the world they live.

This idea is epic but I hate how Pokemon is sometimes inconsistent with new ideas for eg No dream world in gen 6 and we still don't know if mega evolution still exists
I want to know too what happened to the Megas... I think they will be but.. when they will add them?

I think that if we can choose, maybe the Mega will be more powerful :yeahyeah: but who knows?

Also another inconsistency is that we get something good and then it leaves the next generation. For example 2 kinds of bikes existed in Gen 3 and in Gen 4 we had some weird things called gears

Actually the gears were better for speed control.
I'd use a faster gear to get through routes and the slower gear for towns and cities.
The fast gear is basically the mach bike and the slower one was the acro bike without the tricks

I still can't remember that gear functions for the bike XD I think that I simply skipped the tutorial :omg: (and now I think that I will start a DP Nuzlocke roftl)

Talking about removed features... don't forget that in Yellow and HG/SS you have a Pokémon that follow you!:cry: I'm still sad that they forget about it... I loved that feature...

Yeah I really want that to come back. I can't find any explanation on why they won't bring it back again T.T

Maybe making 700+models is something that they don't want to do for now? :uhmm:

True, but judging by the graphics in Sun and Moon, I think they use the same trainer models in the overworld and the battle. They could use the same Pokemon models too.

But they can really add them again... it's the best feature of the game! :argh:
