As you guys already know, we open once a week (or that is what we try to do XD) a new thread to talk about a Pokémon. We can talk about the competitive, of what we like about that Pokémon (or not), if we ever used it in the games (so we can share our experiences with that particular Pokémon (if it helped in some way during your battling or not) or to simply share knowledge about that particular Pokémon.

    This week's Pokémon is Infernape!
    Type: Fire/Fighting
    Base stats: 76 HP | 104 Atk | 71 Def | 104 Sp. Atk | 71 Sp. Def | 108 Spe
Ability: Blaze | Iron Fist (HA)

    EVOLUTION:

    [IMG]->[IMG] ->[IMG]
It evolves into Monferno starting at level 14, which evolves into Infernape starting at level 36.

What I think about Infernape is that I never liked its design but he is really powerful with an outstanding moveset but with a lot of weaknesses (Water, Ground, Psychic and Flying).

    Moves (Singles):
    - Close Combat
    - Fire Blast / Flare Blitz
    - Gunk Shot
    - Grass Knot / Hidden Power Ice
    Item: Life Orb
    Ability: Blaze
    Nature: Naive
    EVs: 100 Atk/ 156 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe
The first move, Close Combat, is the primary STAB move and the second one is Fire Blast but you can choose Flare Blitz and have an higher accuracy. The thing we have to remember with Flare Blitz is that the recoil damage can be difficult when combined with Life Orb.
Gunk shot is a must have against many of the Fairy types that and finally Grass Knot can give a good coverage againt Water-types. You can choose Hidden Power Ice to hit many Flying/Dragon types.

    Moves (Double):
    - Fake Out
    - Overheat
    - Close Combat
    - Quick Guard / Protect
    Item: Focus Sash
    Ability: Blaze
    Nature: Naive
    EVs: 156 Atk/ 100 Sp. Atk / 252 Spe
And here we have a moveset for double battles. Fake Out is used at the beginning of the turn to allow your teammate to use a move on the first turn to power-up or to start dealing some damage against your opponent.
Both STAB moves, Overheat and Close Combat, are used to deal a lot of damage against your opponents. Quick Guard is used to protect Infernape and your teammate from priority attacks but you can also choose Protect to be immune to every kind of damage that Infernape can get.

Did you know that Infernape is the only final form Sinnoh starter to not have an immuunity? Empoleon is immune to Poison-type attacks and Torterra is immune to Electric-type attacks.
Infernape is know as the Flame Pokémon and shares this category with: Charmeleon, Charizard, Flareon and Moltres.
Finally, everyone know that Infernape is based on a monkey but how many of you know that its gold elements in its design and its Japanese name (Goukazaru) are likely linked to the main character of "Journey to the West" where the main character is Son Goku (Sun Wukong in the Chinese novel published in the 16th century) a powerful monkey.
You can find more about the "Journey to the West" on this page on Wikipedia.

I never started my Sinnoh joueny with Infernape, I always choose Piplup since I like him much more but I used Infernape in the competitive (mostly on simulators). I used Infernape in the BW metagame and he was really great at that time, quick and powerful. But I don't think with the actual meta to add him since there's some Fire types that I like much more but for sure he always stays as one of those that I would like to use again if in a Sinnoh remake he will get a good Mega.

And now, let's share our experiences with that particular Pokémon in our games, cool fan artworks (with the source) or anything else!

Fun fact: Infernape is based on Son Goku
Goku from Dragon Ball Z's voice actor is the same as lucario's from Mystery of Mew
