Pokémon Gold & Silver: The Golden Boys is a manga created by Saito Muneo and based on the videogames for the Game Boy Color: Gold and Silver. Despite the manga was popular, the poor sales have forced the author to interrupt the manga after the third volume.
The manga tells the journey of Gold, a Pokémon Trainer starting his journey from New Bark Town after getting his first Pokémon: Totodile. The new duo meets an injured Pidgey and after healing it they encounter Black (the rival in Pokémon Gold, Silver and Crystal), another Pokémon Trainer. Black admits that he have caught and released the Pidgey because it wasn't strong enough. From now on the two trainers become rivals.
Gold continue his journey to challenge the gym leaders and enters in various tournaments.
Towards the end of the manga Black releases a black Tyranitar because he wanted to catch it but the Pokémon is really difficult to catch. According to the legend of Cianwood City, in ancient times the Black Tyranitar caused chaos to the entire Johto region but was sealed. Now it's up to Gold and his friends to stop the Black Tyranitar.
From the second volume, Gold travel with Crystal (Chris for short) the female main character in Pokémon Crystal but the manga stops shortly after.
