Pokémon Go has been downloaded more than 650 million times, developer Niantic Labs announced today during Google Developer Day at the 2017 Game Developers Conference. Keslin said that trainers have now walked approximately 8.7 billion kilometers (5.4 billion miles) and caught over 88 billion Pokémon. The developers will try to keep the game fresh with regular updates (they confirmed that the mobile application will be getting three major updates this year). and they showed some prototipes that will be added in the future. One of the developers drew an illustration of Mewtwo standing in a natural scenery and was one of the reasons why they created GO. As for the future, the developers plan to introduce some multiplayer component including trading, PvP and a revamped gym system. In the prototype we can even see that the field will change in the evening and the morning, and the sun will be visible from the horizon. One of the developers also added that they want to reflect the changes in the weather and add offline events around the world.
