The official website announced that the next update will include new features to Gyms and a Raid Battle feature.

Well... The updates look interesting, I guess.
The Raid Battle seems curious, I want to see how it'll work in practice, as looks like it'll be the first opportunity to really interact with other players.

The way you get to work with other players in Raid Battles remind me of taking over portals in Ingress. I'm glad Niantic is using concepts they used before and know that work.

I'm not really interested in Raids... I don't care that much to interact with others... and I don't think that in small plaes it will be that easy to find some players...
The other feature is interesting, we won't see again Gyms with only Blissey in them XD and the motivation meter is interesting!

That said, I don't think this update will bring back many old players... :suspect: I think that this feature was great at the beginning of the game (or anyway, is good if you live in a BIG city)

These new features may not bring back all the old players but if they open more live events like the Pokemon Go fest, I think that's where they'll bring back fans.

I hope that the EU events will be free... The tickets for the Chicago event (20 dollars for one) sold in less than 30 minutes and now on ebay you can you buy them for over 200 dollars :omg:

I'm still not completely sure about what this Pokemon GO fest is. It's unlike Niantic because I don't think Ingress events needed tickets or anything.
I wonder if it's like the Pokemon Festivals they have every year in Korea, where they open pop-up stores, have VGC competitions, and have dancing Pikachu.

I don't know for sure but there will be some in-game events for GO (so no VCG/TCG... and the dancing Pikachu is a Japan exclusive event made by The Pokémon Company but Niantic announced that they will do some kind of event there)

Some of the events confirmed for Chicago are:
    - increased Pokémon encounters
    - probably there will be Heracross (Latin America region exclusive)
    - various challenges (unlock in-game rewards globally)
    - exclusive "Pokémon GO Fest Chicago" medal
    - Pokémon GO Fest walking course, lined with PokéStops that award special 2 km Eggs which can only be obtained in Grant Park
    - something with the team leaders

I have read that even Ingress used tickets for its events (don't know if free or paid)

    Interesting!

The dancing Pikachu is also being used a lot by the Pokemon Company Korea. It's not necessarily Japan exclusive. I always see them at official events XD

Did you see the deflating Pikachu video in May?
That was in a Pokemon Festival event in Korea :yeahyeah:

Anyway, I hope the live Pokemon Go events make it to Korea soon. Nobody around me really plays anymore
