Pokémon Trainer - Friendly Championship

Hello everyone!

Nowadays I've been full of silly ideas to the Pokémon Trainer... I think I'm not the only one here who isn't familiarized with competitive Pokémon Battles and doesn't take part in the official Pokémon Competitions, 'cause is afraid of miserably loss all the battles.

So, I was thinking... Why don't we make a friendly championship between the members of our forums. I think we could have lots of fun. The ones who wasn't familiarized with competitive would have the opportunity to discover how it works (well, sort of), and the who are, well I think could enjoy this as well.

Well, it will depends of how many people would like to take part on it.
I was thinking about this competition format:

• 1st phase everyone battle against everyone once, win battle = 1 point;
• The X better competitors move to the finals;
• The finals would be disputed in a knockout system, a single battle, the winner moves to the next round, while the loser... well, farewell.

But I haven't thought about the battle rules.

Sounds interesting we need to decide if legends are allowed or not (or if we follow the official rules where only Mytical and some Legends aren't allowed) and the game we want to use (XY, ORAS or both (if both we have to remember that we can use Pokémon allowed in XY so Primals can't be used and the same for some Megas)

Another rule I thought before is: Each trainer is able to submit a single team for the entire 1st phase, with no changes allowed.
The competitor only could change his/her team once before the knockout phase.

Sounds interesting (and I add another rule: one of the players have to submit the battle video code to an admin -> to have things fair XD)
I think that it's better to choose all the rules so after that we can open an official thread to promote

Hmm... I'm not sure. Pokemon Showdown? I don't know Pokemon Showdown noone: :alone, could you tell me (just a little brief) how it works?

I think that it's better to choose all the rules so after that we can open an official thread to promote

Yeah, for sure we'll have to ask for Battle Codes, two reasons: As you told, to keep the things fair; Allow that each competitor could know the battling strategy of the other players, and could try to use it in his/her advantage.

EDIT: About the game that we're going to use, well we could start a poll to decide about XY or ORAS.

Like @Hilda White told you, you can create your team there and battle with others (like always) and you can copy/paste your battle log (like here: http://www.pokemon-trainer.com/threads/pokemon-online-battle-logs.757/)
so I think that it's easy even for those who don't have time to create a competitive team

Years ago we made an Eevee Cup there and it was really interesting

As for the prize... I can do a commemorative image to put for the signature (for the 3 places and one for who joined )

I was thinking that all that the winner could win would be the proud of being "the best Pokémon trainer in this town". xD

Yep! It's very amusing to watch and it's never the trainer you think is going to win lol

Well, I think we can use a battle simulator instead of XY/ORAS if you want... Does the simulator run inside the browser, or do we have to download it and install it on our computers?

Never tried it. I am going to safely assume it works with the browser?

It can be either, you can run it on your browser or you can download and install a program from their website.

Too bad. But, I was thinking in "schedule", the battles in this way, for example:
- 4th October: We publish the battle list to the currently round of the championship.
- 5th to 9th October: Time to make the battles. The players would have to talk to each other to find the best time to make their battle and then post the results here (if they lose the deadline, none of them score points).
